Annual herbs, strongly aromatic, glabrous. Plants to 60 cm high, branched. Lower leaves pinnate to 2-pinnatisect; petiole to 13 cm, shortly sheathing at base; blade ovate to flabelliform, 1-2 cm x 1-1.5 cm, variously toothed or incised; ultimate segments broad. Middle and upper cauline leaves ternate to 2-3-pinnatisect, reducing up the stem; ultimate segments linear to filiform, 2-15 mm x 0.5-1.5 mm, obtuse, entire. Inflorescence a compound umbel; peduncle 4-10 cm long; rays 2-8, unequal, 1-2.5 cm long; involucre absent. Umbellules 3-16-flowered; pedicels 2-5 mm, involucel of 3-5 bracteoles, linear, 2.5-3 mm long, entire. Flowers white, rose-pink or light purple. Calyx tube (Hypanthium) adnate to ovary; teeth 5, small, +/-1 mm long, prominent, ovate-deltoid or ovate-lanceolate, unequal (2 anterior larger than the posterior 3). Central flowers with 5 small equal petals with inflexed tips; in marginal flowers 2 posterior petals smallest and bilobed; anterior is the largest (ca. 4-5 mm long) and deeply bilobed; 2 laterals medium-sized and also unequally bilobed. Stamens 5, free; filaments long; anthers small, dorsifixed. Ovary bilocular with one ovule per loculus; style slender, erect, stylopodium conic. Fruit subglobose, ca. 4 mm long; primary and secondary ribs filiform, evident; vittae in furrows obscure; commissure 2-vittate; inner seed face concave; carpophore deeply bifid at apex.
